Pedagogical objectives

At the end of this course, trainees will have :

  • Understand the ecological transition and its systemic dimension
  • Understand the ecological and social issues surrounding the consumption of raw materials
  • Identify the most sensitive raw materials in their sector of activity
  • Integrate the principle of life cycle analysis and compare products or services
  • Master the 7 areas of the circular economy

They will be able to :

  • Identify levers for action at company level
  • Define a strategy to control the impact of raw materials consumption
  • Draw up a corresponding action plan

  • History and trends in raw materials consumption
Focus on resource availability
  • Quizzes on the rarest and most sought-after materials
  • Understand the challenges of sourcing raw materials
    Activity: case study of their company – identify input materials
  • Understand the issues surrounding waste – Reduce, reuse, recycle, upcycle
    Activity: case study on their company – identify outgoing materials
In addition to resource consumption, ecological and social challenges
  • Understanding the concept of planetary limits
  • Understanding the systemic nature of ecological and social issues
  • Understand the concept of life-cycle analysis (ecological and social)
    Activity: case study of life-cycle analysis of two products – sub-group analysis and discussion of impacts
The circular economy as a guide to action
  • Understand the 7 action areas of the circular economy (based on the Circular Economy Fresco)
  • Illustrations and case studies
Act at product or service level
  • Focus on action areas: responsible sourcing, eco-design, responsible consumption, extending useful life, efficient end-of-life management
    • Analyze and study concrete examples of actions carried out – work in sub-groups and collective synthesis
    • Activity: case study of their company – identify potential for action on products and services
Rethinking the system on a larger scale
  • Industrial symbiosis (or territorial industrial ecology) – concept and case studies
  • The functionality economy – concept and case studies
  • Discussing the potential of their businesses
New business models
  • Understanding the new business models associated with the circular economy
  • We’ll be looking at the investment dimension of projects, with a particular focus on the link between raw material availability and costs, intellectual and industrial property concepts associated with eco-design or material substitution, the overall cost approach to product life-cycle modifications, and the aid schemes available to support companies’ strategic choices (including investment choices).

Teaching method: learning-based pedagogy with alternating interactive activities using the group ‘s collective intelligence , content input by the trainer, and work sessions grouping participants by company (for inter-company).

Technical resources:

  • 1 training room with the possibility of 2 islands of tables each measuring 2m by 1m
  • 1 video projector or TV screen
  • 2 paper boards

Minimum 8 people for inter-company, 6 for intra-company (to preserve interactivity, group dynamics and the collaborative dimension)

Maximum 14 people

Trainer

Specialist in Ecological Transition, experienced animator of the Fresque du Climat, trained in facilitation and management of collective intelligence, specialist in supporting business transformation.

Monitoring and assessment

Pre-course needs questionnaire and learning assessment quiz to better understand the audience’s level and expectations.

Follow-up and support for participants during case studies, exercises, role-playing and in-session tests.

Assessment of knowledge through a Quiz at the end of the course.

Post-training satisfaction and evaluation questionnaire.
