Identify and define the problem
  • Gathering facts and data
  • Different ways of identifying problems :

  • Describe the problem using the QQOQCCP method
Analyze the problem
  • Speak with data” information presentation:
    • Pareto chart
    • Frequency-time diagram
    • Histogram
    • The scatter diagram
  • Use various analysis tools to identify the causes of the problem:
    • The cause tree
    • The cause-effect diagram or Ishikawa diagram
    • The 5 whys
  • Differentiate between possible cause, probable cause and root cause
  • Root cause selection
  • Measure the impact of each cause to prioritize work
Identify and select solutions
  • List all possible proposals
  • Brainstorming for problem solving
  • Define and implement selection criteria
